Summary

Documents the new Admin MCP server, a hosted Model Context Protocol server that lets authenticated agents and MCP clients edit a Mintlify deployment programmatically (branch, edit pages, restructure navigation, update docs.json, open a PR).

Source PR

This was triggered by a merge that improves Admin MCP agent ergonomics, exposing a stable set of MCP tools (checkout, read, search, list_nodes, get_session_state, diff, edit_page, write_page, create_node, update_node, move_node, delete_node, update_config, save, discard_session) over OAuth 2.1 with PKCE, scoped per deployment.

Changes

  • New page: ai/admin-mcp.mdx covering what the Admin MCP server is, how it differs from the public MCP server, the OAuth and discovery endpoints, scopes, every exposed tool with its required scope, an end-to-end Claude Code example, and the security model.
  • Updated ai/model-context-protocol.mdx with a callout pointing readers to the Admin MCP page when they want write access.
  • Updated agent/index.mdx to mention the Admin MCP option alongside existing AI tooling guidance.
  • Added the new page to the Optimize group in docs.json next to the existing MCP page.

Notes

  • Broken-links check passes. Pre-existing validation errors in docs.json are unrelated to this change.
