🇬🇧 UK Companies House Personal Code — Authorised ACSP Service

Apply for a UK Companies House Personal Code as a director, PSC, or company officer. Handled by a Companies House Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP). Fully remote, no GOV.UK One Login required.

🌐 Apply Now → verifydirector.com

What is a Personal Code?

A Personal Code is a unique identity reference number issued by Companies House after a person's identity has been verified. It is now a legal requirement under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 (ECCTA 2023).

From 8 April 2024, all new directors and PSCs must verify their identity when incorporating a company or becoming an officer. From 18 November 2025, all existing directors, PSCs, and company officers filing a Confirmation Statement (CS01) must include a verified Personal Code.

Without a Personal Code:

  • New company incorporations will be rejected
  • Confirmation Statements (CS01) filed on or after 18 Nov 2025 will be rejected
  • Appointments of new directors/PSCs will fail at Companies House

Who Needs to Verify?

You need a Personal Code if you are:

  • Company director of a UK limited company (Ltd) or public company (PLC)
  • Person with Significant Control (PSC) / Beneficial owner of a UK company
  • Company secretary registered at Companies House
  • LLP member or designated member
  • Registered overseas entity (ROE) officer

This applies to both UK nationals and foreign nationals worldwide.

Why Use an ACSP?

The GOV.UK One Login route (self-service) requires:

  • A biometric passport with a working NFC chip
  • A UK address
  • Successful phone app scanning of the chip (which frequently fails)

For most international directors, it is not possible to self-verify via GOV.UK One Login.

As an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP), we can verify you:

✅ Without a biometric passport
✅ Without a UK address
✅ Without visiting the UK or a UK embassy
✅ Accepting passports from any nationality
✅ Via human document review — no chip scanning required
✅ 100% remote from any country in the world

Documents Required

Document Notes
Passport Any nationality — copy only, no mailing required
Proof of address Utility bill, bank statement, or official letter

No biometric chip required. No UK address needed. No Post Office visit.

Deadlines — When Do You Need to Verify?

The deadline is not a fixed date for everyone. Your deadline depends on when you file your next Confirmation Statement (CS01):

  • If your CS01 is due before 18 November 2025 — you must verify before filing
  • If your CS01 is due after 18 November 2025 — your filing will be rejected if you have not verified

Your real deadline is your next Confirmation Statement date, not a universal November 2026 deadline.

Frequently Asked Questions

I'm not in the UK — can I still verify?
Yes. We have verified directors from 40+ countries. Our service is fully remote and works from any country.

My GOV.UK One Login application failed — what do I do?
Contact us. We handle exactly these cases. Non-UK nationals and overseas directors frequently fail the GOV.UK One Login route. As an ACSP, we can complete verification without those requirements.

Do I need to verify if I'm already a director?
Yes, all existing directors and PSCs must verify to continue filing at Companies House. The obligation applies to all officers, not just new ones.

What passport types are accepted?
We accept all nationalities. A biometric chip is not required. Standard passports and national identity cards from most countries are accepted.

How long does it take?
Personal Codes are typically delivered within 1–3 working days after document submission.

What is a PSC?
A Person with Significant Control (PSC) is anyone who owns more than 25% of a company, controls more than 25% of voting rights, or has the right to appoint or remove the majority of directors.

What happens if I don't verify?
You will not be able to file a Confirmation Statement. Companies House may also initiate compliance action against non-verified officers.

Key dates:

  • 8 April 2024 — Identity verification mandatory for new incorporations
  • 18 November 2025 — Identity verification mandatory in all CS01 filings
  • Ongoing — All existing directors and PSCs must verify within their filing cycles
