This Firefox extension makes some changes to the content of ChefSteps recipes pages which may make them easier to read, print, and save.
-
All inline related recipe suggestions are deleted.
-
All "Show More" sections are expanded.
-
Ingredients sections show the expanded "Edit Scale and Units" content by default.
-
When viewing Ingredients in Firefox, the up/down buttons could cover the last part of the number, making values hard to read--those buttons have been deleted. To use the recipe scaler, type a new value into an ingredient box and hit Enter.
-
The comments and site footer are deleted.
To save a ChefSteps recipe with all the photos into one HTML file, check out the cool extension SingleFile. Note that SingleFile will disable the extension scaling script, but you'll still see all the info.
To install this extension you cannot be using a normal version of Firefox, which requires that extensions are signed. You may wish to install LibreWolf where you may enable unsigned add-ons.
- Go to
about:config. - Set
xpinstall.signatures.requiredtofalse. - In
Manage ExtensionsdoInstall add-on from file...or try dropping the XPI file on the browser window.
I encourage you to poke around in the extension to see that it isn't doing anything nefarious. Rename the XPI file to a ZIP file and have a look inside. It simply deletes some named content blocks and simulates clicking on the buttons to expand content.
